Project Title: Beer: What is this Thing We Drink Too Much Of?
Course: EDIT 6190
Date: November 26, 2007

Your project is great and I think a lot of people will enjoy learning about beer.  I found it very informative.  Give yourself a pat on the back for using such a creative topic for your project!
Your drag and drop interaction was great!

I loved your idea for using the photograph of the barrels and using the sides of each of them as your navigation.  The only problem that I see with that is that it may not be obvious to the user that the barrel sides are the buttons.  You could make this clear by making sure all the other barrels are clear without writing and only put writing on the barrels that you intend for the user to click on.  You may even include some text at the top that says something like, “use the buttons on the barrels for navigation.”

I also like the idea of you using the barrel photo as the interface on the entire game.  I think it would add consistency to the project.

Good job!

Your project is wonderful!  I loved it!  Your creativity in designing this project is amazing.  I think children will really enjoy using this to help them read.  Your graphics are great - simple and very appealing to a child.

The only critical feedback I have for you is really in the form of a suggestion.  I was given this same suggestion in an earlier project and that is to place your forward and back buttons down at the bottom.  Most users expect them to be placed there and they may miss them if they are up at the top.

Good luck with the rest of the project.  I can’t wait to see the finished product!

Project Title: Algebra for WR Coile Middle School
Course: EDIT 6200
Date: November 26, 2007

You have clearly spent A LOT of time on this project.  It is interesting for me to see a project from the ‘other’ 6200 group.  It’s much different from those that I’ve seen in my group.  Unfortunately, I do not have a lot of feedback to give to you for because I did not download the software – so I was not able to check the sequence of steps.

It is seemingly very thorough and I think it is an enjoyable way for students to learn about slope and slope-intercept.  I like your examples with “Bob’s Jobs” and the house example. I really liked your use of the ‘Maze Game’ and think that this will be a valuable educational tool for the students as it is an interface and simple game format that is probably similar to many they have played before – but it is still relevant and pertinent to the subject matter. You are also extremely thorough in explaining all of the options and fields in the Winplot program.  It is necessary that if a teacher uses a tool like this that she/he knows all of the options and variables that can be manipulated.

I found 2 typos: page 6 – change ‘winplot’ to ‘Winplot’
page 16 – change ‘menue’ to ‘menu’

Great job!

You project is wonderful!  I am truly amazed with your Flash skills.  Everything is beautiful, well organized and you’ve also done a great job with the color scheme.  I love you addition of the sound to the menu items at the top of that opening screen.  You provide a lot of factual information, which is wonderful for the learner.

The only feedback I have is that on the ‘gallery’ page, I think you should include instructions.  When I clicked on it and the screen came up, I wasn’t sure what to do.  Since there is no roll over on the buttons at the bottom, there is no indication that you’re supposed to click on them.

It’s clear you’ve put a lot of work and effort into this project and it is truly beautiful.  I am very, very impressed!

Hello! Lindsay,
I would like to give you the deskcrit. If you do not really understand my points, please feel free to ask me!

Creator: Lindsay Wilson

Hello! Lindsay,
It is a really good project. I like your project which fully shows your good graphic design. The structure is clear and concise. Moreover, I think the feedback for the questions are also facilitating for the learners. Here are my suggestion:
1. For the drag and drop question, I think that the colors of "response column" and "quesion column" could be different. I know it is related to action script, but it would be better that you know how to make the correct answers which are not removed from the right boxes.
2. I think in your project, there are many different sub-topics. However, all words are in blue color. I suggest you color the topics to make them more clear.
3. I found you have a small shot on the top on every page. If you have specific purpose, you are supposed to tell the user how it functions somewhere in your project. Otherwise, for me, it is kind of confused.
4. When the learner rolls over on the red words, some definition will come up. I think you can put the "definition square" on the side instead of covering those terms.

Good job!

I really enjoyed taking a look at your project. It is very interesting subject. I like the design and color you've chosen for creating your site. It reminds me the sea and therefore it really relates to your project's subject, "The right thing for the right whales" I also like your idea which is using the highlight to explain the difficult word or meaning. It's very helpful to understand the word.

I have a few comments for you. I found there is no every page's title ( showing  "untitled document"). If you added each title to each page, it may help to indicate where the user is.
In the menu category, when I first saw the menu, I clicked each text instead of the arrow images. If you added each menu to each link, it may be helpful.

I think everyoune enjoys your project. Great!

Critique :
I am really interested in your project. I liked the flash works you’ve done for the project.
I was amazed by huge work.
I liked the mouse-over description of the words.
Quizzed and other items are fabulous! I LOVE the whale J

Just one thing, if I click the menu, I could not go back to the page which I was watching before. If there is a way to go back to the very page which I was reading, it would be great. Or maybe making menu part a little pop-up window, it will help this problem.

I envy your flash skills! This project is AWESOME.
